Methods of protection from computer failure:

 

Firewall - Prevents unauthorised access of your computer.

 

Antivirus Software - Prevents your computer from getting virus.

 

Add-ons for Internet browsers -  Some Internet browsers like Firefox and Google Chrome allow add-ons to be installed. Some of these will help protect you from dangerous sources and improve your safety.

 

Backup/Synchronization software - This will prevent the loss of data. Backing up manually is time consuming and often people forget. This software backs up files automatically.

What is computer failure?

It isn’t just people you have to be worried about. ICTs can make you feel unsafe too. Viruses and programs that gain unauthorised access pose large risks when using ICTs. They can result in loss of files/data, making your ICT stop working or your ICT doing unwanted activities.

 

What are the risks of computer failure?

There are number of different activities that increase and hold the risk of computer failure. Here are just a few of these activities:

+ Browsing ‘bad’ websites

+ Downloading unknown files

+ Opening emails from unknown email addresses
